Bentley Mulliner Bacalar 2021 Review and Specifications
Are you among those who want the Bentley Continental GT Convertible but feel that the luxury car is still in the market? Maybe you might consider proposing the proposed Bentley Mulliner Bacalar 2021. This is a limited edition car made by one of the oldest coachbuilders in the world from England, Mulliner who was invited to work together by Bentley. Bacalar is touted as the most eccentric car Bentley has ever made in the last 100 years.
Before discussing why this car is suitable for rich people who are anti-mainstream, let’s first discuss this Bacalar profile. The name Bacalar itself is taken from a lake in Mexico. For its exterior design, Bentley designers took inspiration from an experimental concept car called the EXP 100 GT Concept. The concept car was introduced in 2019.
Bentley Mulliner Bacalar 2021: A Car with No Roof that Only Made 12 Units
The main LED lights on Bacalar look a little smaller than the concept version. The manufacturer also modified its shape so that it did not look rigid. The radiator grille also comes in smaller dimensions than the concept version. The smaller grille effect results in the lower airways being large enough. LED Daytime Running Lights have the same shape as the EXP 100 GT positioned horizontally and penetrate up to the main light.
On the side, there is a large rim measuring 22 inches with three-color accents. Positioned against other special edition supercars, such as the Aston Martin V12 Speedster and McLaren Elva, Bacalar comes with no roof, but has a windshield like a conventional car and only holds two people. To handle the door taken from the latest generation Continental GT, this was done not because it was less creative, but the alarm system used was the same.
For the rear, Mulliner redesigned the rear lights to be larger and look more human. The rear lights come with detailed motifs in the form of diamonds. Black color that contrasts with the color of the car body is on the front bumper. To make it look sportier, a pair of sports car-style exhaust muffled. While the classic impression try to be seen through the air ducts on pillar A of the car.
The inside of this car also looks special for its customers. The design itself was created from scratch and took inspiration from the old Bentley lineup, the Bentley Birkin which was sold in the 1920s. This two-door car has a dashboard that is coated by real wood. The wood used is also not from trees carelessly. According to Mulliner, the wood used is wood from trees that are very rarely found and grow on the river banks. The wood used also comes from trees that have fallen naturally and are 5,000 years old. The wood usually grows in peat swamps, lakes and rivers.
The back, accent on the seat, and the side of the headrest are made of natural wool. This car carpet is quite thick because it is made of genuine wool woven from Wilton. Each seat has a total of 148,199 stitches. Some of the material is wrapped with different materials, such as wood, luxury leather, to titanium anodized on the operating buttons. Interestingly, Bacalar comes with a set of suitcases that have the same motif as the seats in the car.
The mechanical heart used by Bacalar is the 6,000 cc W12 with twin turbo. The power that is vomited is 650 hp and 900 Nm of torque. Transmission used 8-speed automatic dual clutch. Bentley claimed that the convertible was able to reach speeds of 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds from rest. Meanwhile, the maximum speed is 322 km / hour. Bentley Mulliner Bacalar 2021 is only made as many as 12 units with a price of approximately 2 million US dollars. Of course this will make Bacalar one of the rarest Bentley cars in the world.
