The 2020 Ford Bronco has recently been caught by spy photographer cameras for the first time in the form of a prototype with full camouflage when undergoing intensive company testing. Based on the recent reports, this SUV will be truly based on the new Ford Ranger mid-size pickup truck. It can be seen from the spy shots photo that shows the complete Ranger cab with full truck ride height and will be more intended as an off-road vehicle.
As we know that the Detroit-based automaker has announced the return of the Bronco at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show after much speculation and rumors shocked social media. This is not surprising, considering that many Bronco fans in the past few years have been expecting the Bronco to be produced again in the U.S… Bronco is a legendary 4×4 vehicle produced by Ford to compete in its segment in the past (from 1965 to 1996). Now, the 2020 Ford Bronco will really be returning for the North American market with a full boxy and dashing design.

Yeahhh… at least that’s what Joe Hinrichs (Ford global operations president) said. Ranger may be a bit old for the U.S. market because this pickup truck was actually released specifically for the Asia Pacific market since 2010. The difference may be seen from the modifications made by Ford, where the Ranger truck is equipped with the latest fully-boxed frame for the United States.

2020 Ford Bronco Will Share the Same Platform With the New Ranger…
Speaking of technical specifications, the all-new redesigned 2020 Bronco is claimed to have a unique engine but will also share the same drivertrain with the U.S.-spec Ranger. If that claim will really happen, of course, we will see a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-four engine paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox on the upcoming Ford Bronco. This four-cylinder turbo engine is claimed to be able to produce 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque – the same performance values that we can find on the Ford Focus RS with the EcoBoost 2.3L turbo engine.

It Will Likely Be Powered By a 2.7L V6 EcoBoost Engine with a Manual Gearbox…
The 2020 Ford Bronco will also reportedly get the EcoBoost 2.7-liter V6 engine paired to a 7-speed manual transmission. This V6 engine is predicted to be able to provide 325-335 HP and 325-380 pound-feet of torque. Given that this powertrain has actually been offered on the Ford F-150 and Edge ST, so performance values may not be very different.
It makes sense if Ford will put a manual gearbox on the 2020 Bronco, considering that this new SUV will most likely be targeted directly at the Jeep Wrangler on the U.S. market. The Bronco, of course, is a very popular, respectable and iconic vehicle in the United States. So it’s not surprising that Ford wants a piece of cake from Jeep, which has been very successful in recent years with the fantastic sale of Wranglers.
Powered by a body-on-frame Ranger platform, the 2020 Ford Bronco must be a serious off-roader, a little smoother on the highway, but will be very tough on the off-road track.
New Hybrid Version is on the Way…
Ford will definitely offer a four-door version in the new 2020 Bronco, given the great success of the Jeep Wrangler is the availability of a four-door model, plus a two-door option with a short wheelbase version. While spy photos scattered on social media showed-off the two-door Bronco is undergoing testing. This is a puzzle would Ford offer a two-door Bronco too? If that’s true, of course, the upcoming two-door Bronco version will be targeted directly to compete with the shorty Wrangler.
The Blue Oval manufacturer is also likely to offer a hybrid version for the upcoming Bronco, according to our sources. This is a big boost for Ford to beat Jeep in every market line in its segment, including the 2020 Bronco hybrid currently in the works. Under its hood, the 2020 Ford Bronco hybrid is expected to be powered by a 3.3-liter V6 engine paired to an electric motor with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
