2018 Nissan Silvia Release Date, Specs and Price

The Japanese automaker Nissan is rumored to be reviving Silvia sports coupe as a 2018 model year. By the way, it’s a warm rumor that we heard recently about the next-generation 2018 Nissan Silvia. But we believe this sports car should be reintroduced for the global market. It does not matter whether it will come as 2017 or 2018 models. Willing to wait if it’s really worth it?

Silvia last produced in 2002 and it’s sold as the 240SX in the North American market, while the European people know him as the 200SX. The sports car was also briefly available in two-door convertible variant and of course with front-engine layout and rear-wheel drive configurations. Unfortunately Nissan Silvia just a long sleep after hitting the asphalt in the world for 26 years (1976-2002) and I thought he was dead after that time.

But now simply pull your breath more deeply. Well, leaked information revealed that the 2018 Nissan Silvia would be released to the global market around this year. Successor of the 240SX sports car will likely use the same platform as the second-gen Nissan IDx Concept, which was unveiled at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show. And of course it will come as rear-wheel drive sports cars, which are ready to kill the Toyota GT 86 along with his twin!

Not only based on IDx Concept, the all-new 2018 Silvia will also take many design cues from the Nissan Sports Sedan Concept. Interestingly, the Japanese automaker will reportedly offer two engine options on this new sports coupe, including a small unit 1.2-liter supercharged and 1.6-liter turbo engine for high-performance Silvia. Rumors say one of the two engine options is capable of delivering more than 200 horsepower.

Not surprisingly, since the 2018 Nissan Silvia is targeted to compete with three sports cars which include the Toyota GT 86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. So maybe Nissan will provide more power output for the next-gen Silvia and performance over its rivals. Apart from that, driving pleasure of a sports car should also be a key focus. That’s why the 2018 Silvia will be smaller than the new Nissan Z, also will offer a 6-speed manual and 6-speed close-ratio automatic transmission.

As for release date we don’t know for sure. However, the 2018 Nissan Silvia most likely be released in the global market late next year. While the high-performance Silvia Nismo is rumored to be on sale shortly thereafter. Pricing information also not yet available at this time. But we expect price for the All-New Silvia sports coupe will be close to its rival…. The Toyota GT 86, certainly around £22,700 (base price) on the European market for the 2016 model year.
