2018 Honda Accord Sport Release Date, Price and Changes

The tenth generation 2018 Honda Accord is rumored to be ready to hit the North American market. Based on the leaked info and spy shots photos, the new Accord models will get some changes in terms of design style and seem to be quite different from the ninth generation Accord that was first unveiled in 2012. As you know that the Japanese automaker has started production of the ninth-generation Accord mid-size sedan in early September 2012. Since then the 9th generation Honda Accord only received some minor changes and facelift for the US market.

According to our sources, the 2018 Honda Accord will be much slimmer than the previous model. Honda will also reportedly provide more sporty appearance at the 10th generation Accord models. However, the new Accord will have similar exterior design with the 2017 Honda Civic which has now reached its 10th generation. Especially at the front-end design, the 2018 Accord model year will be as handsome as the 10th generation Civic.

The 2018 Honda Accord will surely share the same platform with the current generation Civic. The new platform is claimed to be lighter and has a more rigid chassis compared to the previous platforms. This is evident from its overall body shape that looks similar to the Civic. The most striking change in the exterior design is a fastback roofline and shorter trunk lid. While the headlights design now look wider and narrower for the 2018 model year. Also, the new profile design will be sleeker and more aggressive than the previous generation.

The new Accord interior will also receive some technical changes, especially updates on its multimedia system. But there is not much information we can share with you related to the interior changes. So let’s just talk about the spec. The new model will still be offered in several trim levels, including Sport, Touring, EX, EX-L and base LX trim level.

2018 Honda Accord Sport Specs

The Japanese automaker is likely to retain a 2.4-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine for the upcoming Accord. In addition, Honda is reportedly considering to put turbocharging on the next-gen Accord. This 2.4L inline-four engine capable of delivering at least 185 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 181 lb-ft of torque at 3,900 rpm. Meanwhile, the 2018 Honda Accord Sport will most likely be powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. As we know, the current 2017 Accord Sport is able to deliver 189 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 182 lb-ft of torque at 3,900 rpm. But the above figures are only slightly different to the standard Accord (non-turbocharged).

Transmission choices will still include a six-speed manual and CVT with Sport Mode. We’re not sure whether Honda will still maintain a six-speed automatic transmission in the future. However, the Japanese automaker may no longer offer a 3.5-liter V6 engine on the 2018 Honda Accord. Currently the 3.5L V6 engine capable of delivering 278 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 252 lb-ft of torque at 4,900 rpm. While the 2018 Accord Hybrid will still be equipped with a four-cylinder engine coupled to an electric motor. Output is claimed to reach 212 horsepower with the current Accord Hybrid.

2018 Honda Accord Sport Release Date

Honda has yet to confirm the release date. However, the 2018 Honda Accord is expected to be unveiled at the North American market late next year. While the price tag may not be much different from the current model, which ranges between $22,455 – $30,995. So we can expect the upcoming Accord arrives at US dealerships with a starting price of around $23,000 for the base model and $31,000 for the top trim level.
