    2015 Subaru WRX STI Release Date, Specs & Price

    After a few leaked photos hit the web, Subaru has finally officially revealed the all-new 2015 WRX STI sedan at the Detroit Auto Show during this week. The overall design is similar to the standard model, but the new WRX STI brings boxer engine with a higher output than the standard WRX sedan. In the same announcement, the Japanese automaker said that they would offer the Exclusive Launch Edition that will be produced in limited quantities to just 1,000 units. And will be available in WR Blue paint exterior colors with unique interior trim as well as ride on BBS gold forged alloy wheels.

    Under the hood, the 2015 Subaru WRX STI is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter BOXER four-cylinder engine exclusively paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. The 2.5L BOXER engine capable of spewing its peak output up to 305 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 290 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Subaru says this engine has been equipped with Dual Active Valve Control System (Dual AVCS) and relies on the Symmetrical all-wheel drive system with DCCD.

    Driver can adjust the car performance characteristics thanks to the use of Subaru’s SI-DRIVE system that offers three different modes, including Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp. SI-DRIVE will adjust the engine control module in order to change the car’s performance characteristics. In addition, the high-performance WRX STI sedan now comes with Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD), which utilizes a planetary-type center differential gears with 41:59 torque split.

    The car is equipped with a new stiffer chassis and uses high-strength steel structure than the previous generation. Subaru claims the new stiffer chassis is able to provide more agile handling and generates super-fast steering response than the standard model. The WRX STI ride on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in summer performance tires sized 245/40R18. The new model is also equipped with the new inverted-strut front suspension that promises better cornering agility.

    Subaru offers a full aerodynamic body package on the 2015 WRX STI with a large trunk spoiler and a special STI signature. The high-performance WRX STI comes with an exclusive exterior design featuring a distinctive WRX STI identity and also featuring a special characteristic in some areas such as hood, fenders, bumpers and much more. In addition, the exterior also comes with LED taillights, LED center high-mount stop lamp and distinctive rear diffuser.

    This new model offers a more spacious cabin combined with a premium feel on every aspect. The interior featuring some standard features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, dual-mode heated front seats and heated exterior mirrors. In addition, the interior is also equipped with a new audio system, AM/FM stereo with HD radio, single-disc in-dash CD player and much more.

    The 6.1-inch LCD screen featuring touch-screen navigation system and voice controls, while the new multi-information central display will come with 4.3-inch LCD screen that displays the various vehicle system functions. Meanwhile, the Launch Edition models will get some additional equipment that includes 8-way power driver’s seat, Harman/kardon audio system, leather-trimmed upholstery and power moonroof.

    2015 Subaru WRX STI Release Date scheduled for around March-June

    As for release date and price, the 2015 Subaru WRX STI will reportedly go on sale in the North American dealerships around March-June and unfortunately, Subaru has not announced official pricing details at this time. However, this new model is predicted to go on sale with a price tag around $40,000 or may not be more than $40k, given the current WRX STI starts at $35,290.
