After hearing so many rumors on the internet that is not clear, the 2015 Subaru WRX sedan has finally been fully revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Among you there may be some people who feel disappointed because the overall design of the WRX production version looks much different from the concept version showcased at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. In fact, it looks like an upgraded version of the Impreza?
Impreza impression still looks pretty strong inherent in the new WRX sedan, including interior. The story has been different because the soul of WRX concept is partly lost in the production model. We heard so many potential customers out there who feel disappointed because their expectations were far from the truth when seeing the production version arrives in Los Angeles. They want aggressive WRX sedan like the concept version.
Under the hood, the 2015 Subaru WRX is powered by a new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine capable of developing up to 268 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque at 2,000-5,200 rpm. The boxer engine can be paired to either a standard six-speed manual gearbox or new Sport Lineartronic CVT featuring manual mode (optional).
The latter receives benefits from the use of the SI-DRIVE system (Subaru Intelligent Drive) that offers three different modes, including Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp. The new WRX sedan is claimed to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds with a standard manual gearbox.
The 2015 models are now equipped with a new torque-vectoring system to ensure that the WRX could provide agile handling and better performance. Subaru says the new torque vectoring also provide benefits with better cornering speeds.
In addition, the new model also comes with a new chassis which claimed stiffer than the previous model, complete with a performance-tuned suspension, larger brakes, and driver-focused interior that is considered to be an integral aspect of the WRX’s performance character.
Subaru Symmetrical AWD system is now offered in two different versions. Models equipped with the Lineartronic CVT gearbox get a new Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system featuring Variable Torque Distribution (VTD), which is able to optimize torque distribution and provide agile handling.
Despite getting a lot of negative responses, Subaru says that the WRX exterior design adopting an aggressive stance combined with a sophisticated sports sedan concept. The front-end design of the car is claimed to be much bolder with a unique grille and deep front spoiler. This new model ride on standard 17-inch wheels wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT tires (235/45 R17 94W) and offers some unique features such as distinctive bumpers design, unique headlights and taillight clusters.
Inside the cabin, the WRX sedan adopts better materials with roomier interior, and cabin comfort has been enhanced. The cabin comes with some standard equipment that includes flat-bottomed steering wheel, fabric sport seats and automatic climate control. The interior also features 9-speaker Harman/kardon premium audio system with 440-watt, new instrument cluster, multi-information display with 4.3-inch LCD and heated front seats (optional).
There’s no official announcement related to the 2015 Subaru WRX release date, but the new sedan is scheduled to go on sale at U.S. dealers in early April 2014 and the official price tag will be announced in February.
