The 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo has been fully revealed and made its premiere debut at the Tokyo Motor Show this month. Godzilla is now more powerful than the current GT-R model and get an increase in power output by 55 HP. Not only that, this supercar also received some benefit from the comprehensive improvements, revisions and upgrades.
Under the hood, you will still see a Twin-Turbo 3.8-liter V6 VR38DETT engine but Nismo have increased its output up to 600 horsepower (441 kW) and peak torque is reached at 652 Nm (481 lb-ft). Just to compare, a same VR38DETT engine used in the 2014 Nissan GT-R is only capable of spewing up to 545 horsepower (406 Kw) and 627 Nm of torque (463 lb-ft).
Impressive, this means that the maximum power has been increased by 55 HP, while the peak torque gains additional output of 25 Nm. It’s thanks to some comprehensive upgrade performed by Nismo engineer such as installing a new high-flow turbochargers with large diameter were taken from the Nismo GT-R GT3-Spec.
In addition, Nismo also improves exhaust system, intake and breathing. While the combustion system has been upgraded with a new fuel pump and ignition timing control for each cylinder has also been improved.
However, not only improved engine output but Nismo also enhance its chassis, suspension, brakes and body construction in order to ensure that the GT-R Nismo is safe, comfortable and has an agile handling.
Front and rear suspension is now fitted with new springs and custom Bilstein DampTronic dampers in order to provide a better grip level and progressive handling response when touching the limit. There are three different suspension modes that can be selected by the driver, including Comfort, Normal and R (for track use only).
Godzilla ride on 6-spoke GT500 black alloy-wheels wrapped in special Dunlop tires with front tire size 255/40 ZRF20 and 285/35 ZRF20 for the rear. In order to improve cornering stability, the supercar is equipped with new links mounted on a double wishbone front-suspension and also receives benefits from the use of high-rigidity bolts to increase stiffness around the wheel-hub attachment area.
Furthermore, the 2015 GT-R Nismo sports car gets an improvement in terms of aerodynamics and the car is now equipped with a new aerodynamic kit such as carbon fiber rear spoiler and wider front bumper. Nissan said carbon fiber rear spoiler could improve downforce and lowering the center of gravity as well as provide an additional 100 kg (@ 300 km/h) compared to the standard 2014 GT-R model.
In order to get progressive handling, aerodynamic characteristics have been specifically tuned, so downforce can be spread evenly from the front to rear at all speeds. The interior featuring some exclusive equipment such as Alcantara 3-spoke steering wheel, Recaro sport seats with carbon fiber and red stitching that can be found on the center console, steering wheel, door trim and seats.
The new GT-R Nismo with Michael Krumm recently made an impressive lap time record at the world famous race track in Nurburgring, Germany. As a mass production car, Godzilla makes incredible lap time 7 minutes 08.679 seconds and this record stands behind the Porsche 918 Spyder that creates a record lap time of 6 minutes 57 seconds on the Nurburgring.
