2015 Lincoln Navigator Release Date, Changes, Specs & Price

The 2015 Lincoln Navigator has finally been fully revealed on its official debut at the Chicago Auto Show that was held on February 8 to 17, 2014. The facelifted Navigator get some impressive changes in terms of design compared to the current model, both for the exterior and interior. Engine spec has now been updated as well, by offering a new EcoBoost engine to replace the old 5.4L V8 unit.

Prominent changes can be seen in its front-end design such as redesigned headlights, revised grille (split-wing grille) and updated bumper design. In addition, the new Navigator full-size SUV featuring a new hood design, revised taillights, chrome trim and Lincoln’s iconic split-wing grille combined with LED-infused HID headlights.

The 2015 model year will be available with a standard 20-inch aluminum wheels. However, Lincoln also offers 22-inch polished aluminum wheels that will be available on an optional Reserve Package, complete with chrome-accented running boards. Ford’s luxury car division said that the 2015 Navigator will still be available in two different versions as the current model, including standard-length (207,4 inches) and extended-length (222,3 inches) versions.

Inside the cabin, the redesigned Navigator SUVs get a number of improvements on its interior with the use of high-quality materials in every aspect. The interior comes with some standard equipment that includes new wood-trimmed steering wheel, Wollsdorf leather-wrapped, PowerFold third-row seats and new switchgear. In order to provide a more dynamic driving experience, the wood steering wheel is now offering a softer touch and thicker grip.

According to the automaker, the Navigator’s interior is designed to accommodate up to eight people and offers second-row options with captain’s chairs, center console and fold-flat bench. Furthermore, the 2015 Lincoln Navigator offers several technology-based luxury interior features as standard on the vehicle, including SYNC with MyLincoln Touch driver connectivity system, push-button start with keyless engine ignition, cabin temperature controls and navigation system.

The MyLincoln Touch system offers instrument cluster with 4.2-inch LCD displays, center stack with 8-inch touch screen and traditional knob controls. In addition, there is also Illuminated “welcome mats” that will greet the driver when they press the unlock button on the key fob. If that’s not impressive enough, you can order an optional Reserve Interior Package that will add some more luxurious interior features such as ultra-luxurious leather seats, Premium Ziricote wood trim, luxurious natural-grain wood, leather-wrapped dashboard, leather glove box door and leather instrument panel featuring contrast stitching.

Under its hood, the facelifted 2015 Navigator is powered by a new 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine that can generate a maximum output at least 370 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. This 3.5L EcoBoost V6 powerplant is destined to replace the 5.4-liter SOHC 3-Valve V8 engine, which is currently offered in the 2014 model year, according to Lincoln. Of course, as we all know that the new EcoBoost engine is more powerful but still fuel-efficient as it has been proven in several other Ford vehicles.

The 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine mated exclusively to a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission and will be available in two drive configuration options, including four-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive. The Dearborn-based automaker said the new EcoBoost engine could be equipped with the Control Trac 4WD system that will be available as an optional and is claimed to improve traction, handling, and offers off-road capability.

Not only that, the 2015 Lincoln Navigator is also backed by a standard electric power-assisted steering which helps improve handling, provide more consistent control and makes it easier when the Navigator maneuvering at low speeds. While the Lincoln Drive Control is now equipped with Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD), which will monitor multiple vehicle sensors and road conditions every two milliseconds, as well as automatically adjusts the suspension setup as needed. It will be available in three different control modes, including Normal, Sport and Comfort.

2015 Lincoln Navigator Release Date scheduled for early this fall, according to the automaker

Speaking of the official release schedule, Lincoln said that the 2015 Navigator full-size SUV is scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. Lincoln dealerships early this fall. This new luxury SUV will go into the production line later this summer at Ford’s Kentucky truck plant in Louisville, KY. Unfortunately, the Dearborn automaker has not announced its official pricing details at this time and is rumored to be announced closer to the Navigator release date.

However, the redesigned 2015 Lincoln Navigator is expected to hit U.S. dealer’s floor with an initial price tag of around $60,000, considering the current model (2014MY) already on sale with a starting MSRP of $56,165 (Prices for Feb 13, 2014). While the main competitor for the new Navigator in the full-size SUV segment currently is the 2015 Cadillac Escalade.
