Crossover/SUV Honda Rumors

2015 Honda CR-V Release Date, Redesign and Price

The Honda CR-V crossover will soon get its mid-cycle refresh for the 2015 model year. Several changes and refreshment will be visible on the exterior and interior design, as well as improved engine performance.

However, don’t expect a full redesign for next year’s model, because Honda has no plan to completely redesign its famous CR-V crossover. Instead, we’ll only see a number of minor changes and revisions.

According to our sources, the 2015 Honda CR-V will use the same platform as the current model and completely redesigned models will be officially released in 2017 or 2018. It’s a future CR-V that will be equipped with a hybrid powertrain.

For next year, the refreshed models will get some changes on the front end like the new headlights, revised bumpers, new horizontal fog lamps and new two-slat grille with chrome mesh inserts. The rear-end design is also updated, including new taillights and a restyled rear bumper design.

The highest trim level of the 2015 CR-V is likely to get HID headlamps. In addition, this crossover will also adopt new 17-inch wheels, replacing the 16-inch wheels found on the current model.

As for the interior, the Japanese-based automaker will likely provide some refreshment on its CR-V’s interior, including the next-gen HondaLink app and navigation systems currently offered on the 2015 Honda Fit and 2014 Honda Civic, as well as Apple’s New CarPlay iOS System.

Under the hood, the U.S.-spec 2015 Honda CR-V is likely to be powered by a direct-injection 2.4-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, which is currently offered in the Accord Sedan Sport. This 2.4L direct-injected engine capable of developing up to 189 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 182 lb-ft of torque at 3,900 rpm.

Not only that, Honda is likely to replace the five-speed automatic transmission with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) plus Sport Mode, also taken from the Accord Sedan. So the new CR-V will get improved engine performance, but future hybrid models with a full redesign are expected to come in 2017.

Honda should provide a mid-cycle refresh for the CR-V crossover in order to survive against the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Nissan Rogue, Ford Escape and Jeep Cherokee.

2015 Honda CR-V Release Date is supposedly scheduled for this fall

Speaking about the release date, the 2015 Honda CR-V is likely to be released in the North American market this fall. Price tag should not increase significantly compared to the previous model. The 2014 Honda CR-V is currently available in the U.S. market with a starting price of $23,120 (MSRP) for the front-wheel drive LX model.
