After several rumors and speculation popping up on the internet, the 2015 Ford Focus ST hatchback has finally been officially revealed at its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a few days ago. The new model now brings some changes, revisions and improved engine performance.
The Dearborn-based automaker said that the car received some improvement in terms of handling and steering feel in order to provide a more responsive driving experience, dynamic and balanced. Last but not least, the interior also gets some impressive touches.
Talking about the exterior design, the 2015 Ford Focus ST comes with a few changes, which includes redesigned front and rear fascias, modified bumpers as well as a new hood design. The restyled model is also equipped with slimmer headlights, new fog lamps and standard LED signature lighting.
HID headlamps are now offered as standard on the ST2 and ST3 trim levels along with Recaro sport seats. This new hatchback ride on standard 18-inch Rado Gray alloy wheels, but Ford also offers a new 18-inch alloy wheel with red painted brake calipers as optional equipment.
The 2015 Focus ST is equipped with a new sports suspension system featuring a sportier shock absorber and new front springs in order to provide a dynamic driving performance. In addition, several other revisions can be found in the electric power-assisted steering and torque vectoring control system.
Moving into the cabin, the interior received a few changes such as new instrument panel center stack featuring updated climate controls, new front door storage with cupholders and redesigned flat-bottom steering wheel that offers extra legroom for the driver.
Center console now comes with more storage space and new media bin featuring USB smart charging port. In addition, the new Focus ST also offers some optional equipment, including eight-way power driver’s seat and heated steering wheel. While the rear-view camera come as standard.
Under the hood, the U.S.-spec 2015 Ford Focus ST is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine capable of spewing up to 252 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque at 2,500 rpm.
According to Ford, this engine performance improvement thanks to the use of high-pressure direct-injection, turbocharged and twin-independent variable camshaft timing. This new hatchback seems more focused on performance, proven in the transmission.
The 2.0L EcoBoost turbo engine linked exclusively to a performance-oriented six-speed manual transmission with short-throw shifter. Ford claims that this new transmission can provide faster acceleration in low gear, compared with the previous model.
As for the European market, the 2015 Ford Focus ST is also powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo engines but with slightly lower output than the U.S.-spec models. However, interestingly, Ford also offers a new diesel engine for the European consumer.

The Euro-spec Focus ST with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine can deliver at least 250 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque, so the car can sprint from 0-62 mph in 6.5 seconds but the top speed is limited to just 154 mph.
The average fuel economy ratings for the European version (2.0L EcoBoost turbo) is rated at 41.5 mpg UK (34.5 mpg USA or 6.8-liter/100km) with CO2 emissions of 158 g/km, thanks to the use of a new engine start/stop system.
As we said above, the redesigned Focus ST is also available with a new 2.0-liter TDCi diesel engine in the European markets, which offer peak output up to 185 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
As a result, the European-spec models with a new diesel engine can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 8.1 seconds and hit a top speed at 135 mph. The average fuel consumption is rated at 64.2 mpg UK (53.4 mpg USA or 4.4-liter/100km) with CO2 emissions of just 114 g/km.
2015 Ford Focus ST Release Date is scheduled for this fall in the European market
Speaking about the release date, the 2015 Ford Focus ST will go on sale in the European markets this fall with the first deliveries will begin early next year. Unfortunately, the official release date schedule for the U.S. market has not been announced at this time.
Currently, Ford has not announced pricing details for the new Focus ST, but the car will be available in several trim levels, including ST1, ST2 and ST3.
