The 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe has finally been officially revealed in its public debut at the Detroit Auto Show this month. GM has also announced some new details that include full specs, features and release schedule. Unfortunately, they still keep some photos showing interior details. However, Cadillac says the new model is designed to be very lightweight coupe like a sedan that is rooted in the mass efficiency. The new ATS Coupe is claimed to be the most agile model in the company’s product lineup, it’s even called the lightest models in the compact luxury coupe segment.
The Warren-based automaker offers two different engine options for the 2015 ATS Luxury Coupe, where each engine can be paired to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. First option, Cadillac offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that can deliver at least 272 horsepower (203 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm) 3,000-4,600 rpm.
If that’s not enough for those who are looking for high-performance coupe, don’t worry bro because you could still order a 3.6-liter V6 engine capable of developing up to 321 horsepower (239 kW) at 6,800 rpm and 275 lb-ft of torque (373 Nm) at 4,800 rpm. Both engines will be available with rear-wheel drive setup as standard on the coupe, but Cadillac also offers all-wheel drive configuration which will be available only as optional.
Talking about the exterior design, the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe looks almost the same as a luxury sedan because it uses 109.3-inch (2,775mm) wheelbase, as you can see in the picture. However, the automaker says that the exterior adopting an aggressive stance and offers a myriad of unique bodywork features as can be found in the doors, roof, front fascia, new grille, trunk lid and fenders. Moreover, the ATS Coupe is the first production models that uses the companyâ€™s new Cadillac crest and also ride on 18-inch exclusive wheels.
In order to support its dynamic performance and improve responsiveness characteristics, Cadillac has now put some exclusive equipment on the new ATS Coupe, which includes:
- Nearly perfect 50/50 weight balance & low center of gravity
- Five-link independent rear suspension featuring lightweight, high-strength steel & efficient straight link designs
- A multi-link double-pivot MacPherson-strut front suspension with direct-acting stabilizer bar
- Underbody aerodynamic shields
- Premium, belt-driven electric variable-effort steering gear from ZF Steering Systems
- Brembo front brakes
- Eighteen-inch aluminum wheels
- Available all-wheel drive
Not only that, an optional package is also available and can be ordered immediately when the car goes on sale in U.S. dealerships nationwide. This optional package consists of several high-performance equipment that includes driver-adjustable FE3 sport suspension, Magnetic Ride Control and mechanical limited-slip differential. In addition, there are also high-capacity engine cooling system and 18-inch summer-performance tires.
Moving into the cabin, the interior featuring authentic materials combined with decorative stitching such as leather upholstery, aluminum, carbon fiber and wood. The new 2015 ATS Coupe also offers a wide choice of interior color themes combined with unique accent trim materials. Speaking of features, Cadillac offers some standard interior features that include:
- OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot
- Bluetooth phone & audio connectivity with natural voice recognition
- Text-to-voice that converts incoming text messages to speech & reads them over the audio system speakers
- USB, auxiliary & SD memory card ports
- SiriusXM Satellite Radio with three-month trial subscription
- Reconfigurable 5.7-inch, three-window instrument panel cluster display
- Full-color reconfigurable head-up display
Bose premium audio system will be available as a standard feature on all variants, complete with Active Noise Cancelation technology. Meanwhile, several other interior features will come as optional, including CUE infotainment system, GPS navigation and Wi-Fi hotspot. In order to make driver and passengers feel safer, Cadillac has installed several safety features on the ATS Coupe such as Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, Safety Alert Seat, Intellibeam high-beam control and park assist.
As for release date, Cadillac has confirmed that the 2015 ATS Coupe is scheduled to be officially released and went on sale in the North American market this summer. No word on pricing details at this time, but its official price tag will be announced closer to its release date.
