Autoevolution spy photographers successful take some photos of the 2015 Audi Q7 prototype when the car is undergoing intensive testing recently. The Q7 prototype caught on camera with very minimal camouflage, so there are many details revealed in this SUV.
The full production model will reportedly make its premiere debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show next March and will also arrive at the Paris Motor Show in September 2014. However, Audi has not given an official announcement related to the plan, although it seems just a rumor.
The next-gen Audi Q7 will reportedly have some characteristic such as a very low ground clearance and also more sloping roofline. This new SUV featuring a new bumper design and large front grille. Thanks to the use of VW MLB modular platform, the car weight could be shaved off about 800 lbs (363 kg).
Under the hood, the German luxury automaker will likely offer several engine options for the 2015 Audi Q7 such as a six-cylinder gasoline and eight-cylinder diesel engine. The first option is expected to come with a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI gasoline engine that is able to develop maximum output up to 310 horsepower.
While the second option, the Q7 production version is very likely to be available with a 4.2-liter V8 TDI diesel engine that can produce up to 385 horsepower. Next, Audi is likely to offer a Twin-Turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine which is good enough to develop up to 435 horsepower, followed by a 3.0-liter TDI V6 engine with a peak output of 258 horsepower.
In addition, a plug-in hybrid version is also allegedly going to be available after the SUV was launched in the future. Plug-in hybrid version will likely consist of a 3.0-liter TDI engine mated to an electric motor that has a maximum output of 115 horsepower.
But the rumors will not stop here, a member of the WCF community revealed some different details about the next-gen Audi Q7. He said that the entry-level model would be equipped with a 2.0-liter TDI four-cylinder engine in the future.
Speaking about the release date, the 2015 Audi Q7 will reportedly be released by the end of next year and will go on sale in European dealerships as a 2015 model year.
