Scion has officially introduced the refreshed 2014 tC Sports Coupe on its first debut in the Big Apple in early April. This sports coupe gets more aggressive exterior changes with bolder designs.
The new Scion tC featuring a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that can be paired to either a new six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. The maximum output of this four-cylinder engine can reach up to 179 horsepower (133 kW/181 PS) at 6,000 rpm.
The Japanese automaker said that the new automatic transmission is able to shift gears two times faster than last year’s model. In addition, the updated gearbox is now powered by Dynamic Rev Management Technology, which is also offered on the FR-S sports coupe.
Outside, the redesigned Scion tC is equipped with a new 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/45R18 tires and featuring premium dark gray finish. The automaker also installed a modified suspension with shock absorbers and revised stabilizer bar hardware in order to get better handling.
The updated model also receives a distinctive touch on its exterior design, such as LED accent lighting, embedded tC badge, muscular grille, distinctive headlights, new LED tail lamps and new blackout valance. Other changes will include revisions to the rear bumper, lower-center trim piece and perimeter reflectors.
The 2014 model year is available in seven exterior color options, also includes a new paint color “Blue Streak Metallic and Absolutely Red”.
Moving into the cabin, the revised sports coupe comes with some new technology equipment, such as steering wheel-mounted controls, all-new standard display audio with a 6.1-inch LCD touchscreen, new HD Radio technology and audio system with Bluetooth. Another new feature is the new seats with premium materials and a lighter color fabric.
As for the release date, the 2014 Scion tC is scheduled to arrive in U.S. dealerships in June but there is no word on pricing at this time. The official U.S. pricing details for the new tC sports coupe will be revealed closer to its release date.
