The all-new 2014 Nissan Qashqai has been fully revealed and brought major changes as well as upscale styling. The Japanese-based automaker also announced the official release date scheduled for the Qashqai crossover, complete with pricing details for the European market, especially in the UK.
The second-gen Qashqai gets an impressive redesign on its exterior and interior. Outside, the exterior is equipped with a sloping roofline, clamshell-style hood, unique greenhouse and LED-infused headlights. In addition, we also can see the Active Grille Shutter and tailgate-mounted spoiler.
Luxurious feel continues when we look into the cabin, Nissan says it uses high-quality materials and an impressive redesign. Qashqai’s interior is equipped with key features such as zero-gravity seats, gloss black trim and metallic accents.
The 2014 model year also offers new-generation NissanConnect infotainment system with 7-inch touchscreen, DAB digital radio, Around View Monitor and smartphone connectivity.
Under the hood, Nissan offers four different engine options to all buyers – two gasoline and two diesel. The first option, the redesigned Qashqai crossover will be powered by a 1.2-liter DIG-T gasoline engine which can develop up to 115 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque.
Next, more powerful version of the gasoline engine lineup is also available. It comes with a 1.6-liter DIG-T gasoline engine capable of producing maximum output up to 150 horsepower with a peak torque of 177 lb-ft.
If you want a diesel engine, you should consider first. However, the diesel engine lineup comes with less power than the gasoline variant. The first option is a 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine which is enough to produce 110 horsepower, followed by a 1.6-liter dCi diesel that can develop up to 130 horsepower.
All engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive configuration. Nissan also offers an optional package with ALL-MODE 4×4-i system and all-new Xtronic CVT transmission.
Talking about its price tag, Nissan Europe has announced the official pricing details for the all-new 2014 Qashqai. The crossover is offered in four trim level options in the UK market, including Visia, Acenta, Acenta Premium and Tekna.
The entry-level Visia models will go on sale at a price of £17,595 and gets some standard equipment such as hill-start assist, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, automatic air conditioning and 5-inch color HD infotainment screen.
Next, the Acenta models will hit UK dealers with a price tag of £19,145. Acenta comes with some standard features such as 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, luggage board system, premium leather steering wheel and gear knob. Safety features include auto-headlights, front fog-lamps and rain-sensing wipers.
While the Acenta Premium starts at £20,995 and buyer will get some new technological features that include new NissanConnect infotainment system, DAB digital radio, rear-view camera, panoramic glass roof, parking sensors and i-key Start Push Button. Standard safety features come with a high-beam assist, lane departure warning and front collision avoidance.
The upscale model “Qashqai Tekna” priced at £23,145 and will add some safety features such as Bi-LED headlights, safety shield with traffic signal recognition and high-beam assist. While standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, heated seats, part leather upholstery and roof rails.
As for the scheduled launch date, the 2014 Nissan Qashqai release date is confirmed for early next year. Precisely, this crossover will go on sale in January 2014, according to Nissan.
