The 2014 Kia Forte Koup has officially introduced on its premiere debut at the New York Auto Show in early April. The Korean automaker offer a variety of new features and two trim-level options to all buyers, including EX and SX.
Talking about the engine specs, the entry-level model “EX trim” is powered by a 2.0-liter GDI 4-cylinder engine that can deliver up to 173 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 154 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm. The EX trim is only available with a six-speed automatic transmission as standard option on the car.
As for the second option, the 2014 Forte Koup SX (FWD) is equipped with a 1.6-liter GDI 4-cylinder engine capable of delivering 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 195 lb-ft of torque at 1,750 to 4,500 rpm.
Power will be sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Kia offers steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters only on the SX models with six-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive configuration.
Premium Features & Optional Packages
Regardless of the engine specs, the South Korea-based automaker offers a variety of premium features with its advanced technology on the base model “EX”, including UVO eServices plus rear-camera display, Bluetooth wireless technology, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, FlexSteer and telescoping steering-column.
In addition, other premium equipment for the EX trim will include 16-inch alloy wheels, LED positioning-headlights plus fog-lights and leather-wrapped steering-wheel.
Moving to the SX trim, the new Forte Koup receive various benefits from some interesting equipment that comes as standard on the vehicle, such as 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-chrome exhaust tips, larger front-brakes, grille-openings and black-gloss grille inserts.
Other premium features also appear on its exterior design, including aggressive front-fascia, larger front-rear bumper, and LED tail-lights. Inside the cabin, the SX variant is equipped with some standard features like the front-rear seats plus carbon fiber-style accents and alloy sport-pedals.

According to the Korean automaker, all buyers can also order an optional package that will be offered for both variants – EX and SX. This optional package will add a few more features than the regular version, such as 10-way adjustable power driver’s seat, heated front-seats & steering-wheel and navigation system plus HD Radio.
Not only that, this optional package will also come with some extra equipments that include Smart Key with push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, HID headlights, sunroof, electric chromatic rear-view-mirror, cooled driver’s seat and leather seating-surfaces.
Speaking about release date, Kia confirms the 2014 Forte Koup EX & SX will be available in U.S. dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2013. There’s no word on pricing at this time, but the South Korean automaker said that the official U.S. pricing details will be revealed closer to its release date.
