Jaguar has officially showcased the high-performance model “New F-Type Coupe” in two major events held during this week – LA Auto Show and Tokyo Motor Show. Jaguar has also announced the 2014 F-Type Coupe release date, where the new model will be released in the North American market in next spring or in March 2014.
The F-Type Coupe is offered in three different versions, including base, S and R. The base and S versions are equipped with the same engine of a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine”, but offers a different output. The base version can develop up to 340 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, which allows it to sprint from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds and reaches its top speed at 161 mph.
Equipped with the same 3.0L supercharged engine, the F-Type S coupe capable of producing a maximum output of up to 380 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque. As a result, the S version can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 171 mph.
However, the R version is more amazing than the base or S versions, at least in my personal opinion. The 2014 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine capable of developing up to 550 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque. This engine is basically taken from the Jaguar XKR-S and XFR-S.
The high-performance R version only takes 4 seconds to sprint from 0-62 mph and top speed reaches 186 mph, but its top speed is electronically limited. All three versions are equipped with the same gearbox – 8-speed Quickshift gearbox featuring a full-manual sequential control.
Jaguar also offers a carbon ceramic matrix brakes (CCM) as optional in S and R versions. Jaguar claims that the carbon ceramic matrix brake is 21 kg (46 lbs) lighter than the standard braking system.
Furthermore, the F-Type R Coupe receives benefits from the use of second-gen Electronic Active differential are linked to the new Torque Vectoring by braking system. This improves its handling, which is automatically distributed engine torque between the rear wheels and intelligently applying braking force to the inner wheels as needed.
