2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec Release Date, Changes & Price

The 2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec has officially revealed at the LA Auto Show during this week. The Korean brand also announced the Veloster Turbo release date, complete with official pricing details.

The R-Spec version is basically the hottest models in the Veloster Turbo lineup and this treatment has also been applied to the three Genesis models that include Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec, Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec and Genesis 5.0 R-Spec.

According to the Hyundai announcement, the Veloster Turbo is now getting some changes, improvements and revisions, as can be seen on the steering wheel and suspension. The R-Spec variant comes with several new features that include: Unique R-Spec sport-suspension, retuned steering and Short-throw B&M Racing Sport Shifter.

Prominent difference between the standard versions with the hottest R-Spec is the use of red exterior accents that can be found in the front splitter and side blades. In addition, the car also featuring the R-Spec exterior badging, R-Spec embroidered-logo floor mats and Red leatherette bolsters with red/black cloth insert sport seats.

Under the hood, the new Veloster Turbo R-Spec is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter direct-injected engine mated to a six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox featuring revised shift knob. Hyundai does not offer an automatic transmission on the R-Spec variant. The 1.6-liter turbo engine capable of spewing up to 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.

2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo release date should be revealed early next year

Speaking about the official release date, the 2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec will be available at U.S. dealerships in February 2014 with a price tag of $22,110; it already includes the $810 destination charge. The MSRP shows that the R-Spec variant comes with a lowest price tag in the Veloster Turbo lineup. The South Korean-based automaker said that the production of the R-Spec variants is scheduled to begin next month.
