Cadillac has showcased the all-new 2014 CTS sedan for the first time at the 2013 New York Auto Show earlier this month. This luxury sedan comes with a more assertive appearance and bolder designs, while also featuring a powerful V6 engine.
What’s new? Of course, the Detroit automaker will offer a new 3.6-liter Twin-Turbo V6 engine as an option for all buyers.
This engine is linked exclusively to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle-shift and will be available in U.S. dealerships this fall for both models – 2014 CTS and XTS sedan.
Cadillac says this engine is based on a 3.6-liter DOHC V6 engine (60-degree), but gets some comprehensive upgrade, unique components and new features. As we know, this engine has been offered in several current models, including ATS, SRX and XTS.
Peak power output of this Twin-Turbo engine will reach up to 420 horsepower at 5,750 rpm with maximum torque reaches 430 lb-ft at 3,500-4,500 rpm. Other benefits, 90 percent of peak torque is available at 2,500-5,500 rpm, according to Cadillac.
This allows the new CTS sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds before hitting its top speed at 170 mph. Meanwhile, the new engine will be available with two configuration options, including rear-wheel drive as standard and optional all-wheel drive.
2014 Cadillac CTS Release Date is set for early next year
Apart from all that, the Detroit automaker also offers two other options to all buyers. Starting from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 272 horsepower and a naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter V6 engine with 321 horsepower.
Speaking about launch date, the 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan release date is expected to be revealed later this year because the new model will be available in U.S. dealerships early next year. Cadillac says the new CTS will go into the production line at GM’s Lansing plant (Michigan) this fall.
