The German luxury automaker has officially revealed the 2014 BMW 2-Series Coupe that will go on sale in the German domestic market in March 2014. This new luxury coupe destined to offer emotional appeal with its dynamic capabilities as well as replace its predecessor “the 1-Series coupe”.
The 2014 BMW 2-Series Coupe will hit U.S. dealerships with a starting price of $33,025 for the 228i variants, while the high-performance M235i models will go on sale at a price of $44,025.
Basically, overall dimensions of this new model is larger than the 1-Series coupe, we could see the coupe is 32mm wider and 72mm longer. While the wheelbase is also 30mm longer, this is intended to offer a more spacious cabin room.
Inside, many cabin elements of the 1-series coupe generation has been placed on this new model. The interior fitted with satin silver trim, cloth seats, 6.5/8.8-inch iDrive display-screen, optional Dakota leather upholstery, fineline stream wood trim and brushed aluminum.
Look at the exterior design, this luxury coupe featuring unique grille, distinctive front fascia design, huge air-intakes, bespoke headlights and L-shaped taillights. The BMW 2-Series coupe is offered in three trim levels options including Sport Line, Modern Line and M-Sport.
Some special features offered on the M-Sport trim such as sport-tuned suspension, aerodynamic body kit package, chrome exhaust finisher and new grille. In addition, the coupe is also equipped with 17-inch M light alloy wheels, sport seats, aluminum hexagon trim and BMW M-brand sill plates.
Under its hood, BMW offers a variety of engine options in the new 2-Series coupe. The first option, the 220i model is powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine capable of spewing up to 184 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque, which allows the 220i model to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 7 seconds before hitting its top speed at 235 km/h.
Next, the 218d diesel variant featuring a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo diesel 4-cylinder engine that produces 143 horsepower with a maximum torque reaches 236 lb-ft. The 218d models have a top speed of 213 km/h and can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 8,9 seconds.
While the 220d diesel variant offers a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo diesel engine with four-cylinder configuration as well, capable of spewing its peak power output up to 184 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. 0-100 km/h will be completed in 7,2 seconds before hitting its top speed at 230 km/h.
The 225d diesel variant of the 2014 BMW 2-Series Coupe also uses the same engine as the 218d and 220d diesel variants. However, 225d TwinPower diesel engine capable of distributing maximum power up to 218 horsepower and peak torque reaches 332 lb-ft. As a result, the 225d variant can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 6,3 seconds and a top speed of 242 km/h.
If all four engine options above are not enough for you, then you can consider the high-performance M235i variant that is powered by a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine.
The M235i 3.0L turbo engine capable of spewing its peak power output up to 326 horsepower with peak torque reaches 322 lb-ft. As a result, sprint from 0-100 km/h will be completed in just 5 seconds with a standard gearbox and 4,8 seconds with a optional 8-speed automatic gearbox, before hitting its top speed at 250 km/h.
