After being introduced in concept form at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show earlier this year, Lincoln has now been fully revealed the production version of the all-new 2015 MKC crossover. At the same time, Ford’s luxury brand division has also officially announced the MKC release date.
Talking about its exterior design, the MKC production version is very similar to the concept version. But with the exception of the door handle and there’s a little different on the rear end design of the car, especially the exhaust.
The all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC brings premium SUV design elements combined with a sculpted body, athletic stance and sleeker design. Luxurious and sophisticated shades are also presented in this crossover. Lincoln design team continues to work on improving the Lincoln design DNA, which is applied for the first time on the 2013 MKZ luxury sedan.
And now, the Lincoln design DNA is also presented in the MKC SUV which is expected to be one of the most prominent crossovers at the North American market. Lincoln design DNA has been sculpted with a unique split-wing grille and hands-free wraparound liftgate in the 2015 MKC.
Standard equipment offered by this crossover, including 18-inch alloy wheels and front-wheel drive configuration. However, Lincoln also offers optional equipment that can be ordered at any time, including 19-inch alloy wheels and Lincoln’s Intelligent all-wheel drive system featuring a Continuously Controlled Damping with three different modes – normal, comfort and sport modes.
Inside the cabin, the Lincoln MKC offers a unique interior design combined with luxury and high-tech elements, and it’s not too much different from the concept version. We can see Lincoln’s signature push-button gear shifter on a unique instrument panel and interior receive benefits from the use of plush leathers with French stitching.
In addition, there are also real wood trim, Bridge of Weir leather, as well as the all-new Lincoln leather-wrapped steering wheel that will be offered on all future Lincoln models. MKC is equipped with a luxurious interior features, such as 14-speaker THX® II Certified Audio System, SYNC with MyLincoln Touch and class-exclusive 8-inch touch screen.
Under the hood, the 2015 Lincoln MKC SUV offered in two EcoBoost engine options when it goes on sale at U.S. showrooms. The first engine option is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine, it comes as standard on MKC with a four-cylinder configuration and front-wheel drive system. The 2.0L EcoBoost engine capable of developing up to 240 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm.
Next, Lincoln offers an all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, which is enough to spew its maximum output up to 275 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 300 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. The 2.3L EcoBoost is only available as an optional and can be paired to either a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configuration. However, the gearbox options have not been announced at this time.
The 2015 Lincoln MKC release date has been confirmed. According to the Detroit-based automaker, the MKC production version is scheduled to go on sale at U.S. dealers next summer and the crossover will go into production line in the second quarter of 2014 at the Louisville Assembly Plant in Louisville, Kentucky.
