We certainly still remember the Hyundai HND-9 Concept displayed at the Seoul Motor Show in last March. The HND-9 carries many styling cues that will essentially present in the soul of the next-gen Genesis coupe, certainly for the 2015 model year. The HND-9 may be a preliminary study for Hyundai before they actually bring a new Genesis Coupe concept next year, possibly at the NYIAS in April.
The 2015 Genesis Coupe will receive some prominent changes and benefit from Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy that has been applied to the HND-9 Luxury Sports Coupe Concept. The design philosophy combines assertive exterior styling with a dynamic body lines and some futuristic elements.
The Hyundai HND-9 also featuring hexagonal-shaped grille, butterfly door designs and elongated hood. In addition, the HND-9 Concept comes with 22-inch carbon alloy wheels and dual exhaust. Meanwhile, the cabin offers luxurious elements combined with modern impression and high-tech interface.
Under the hood, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis coupe will likely be powered by a turbocharged 3.3-liter GDi engine mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive configuration. The 3.3L GDI engine capable of developing up to 362 horsepower (270 kW) and basically this engine has been mounted on the HND-9.
The South Korean-based automaker hasn’t revealed any details related to the release date. However, a rumor indicating that the 2015 Hyundai Genesis coupe release date has been scheduled for late 2014. Perhaps the new model will be released at the LA Auto Show but it should be noted that it’s still a rumor; we don’t have an official leaked documents from Hyundai.
